Uses and Benefits of Alsita E 10mg Tablets (Empagliflozin 10mg + Sitagliptin 100mg)
This medicine is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, usually when diet, exercise and a single medicine are not enough to control blood sugar.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
- Used along with diet and exercise
- Often added when one diabetes medicine alone is not giving enough control
HOW IT WORKS
- Empagliflozin blocks a kidney protein (SGLT2) so extra glucose is removed through urine
- Sitagliptin blocks the DPP-4 enzyme, which raises levels of hormones that help the pancreas release insulin after meals and lower excess sugar production by the liver
- Together they lower blood sugar through two complementary actions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
- Not a treatment for weight loss on its own, though some weight loss may occur
- Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is medically required
- Not for children
