Uses and Benefits of AZISWIFT-250MG TABLET (AZITHROMYCIN 250MG)

Azithromycin 250mg is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria affecting different parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia
• Ear, nose and throat infections
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Sexually transmitted infections caused by certain bacteria
• Sinus infections

HOW IT WORKS

• Azithromycin stops bacteria from producing proteins they need to grow and multiply
• This weakens the bacteria and helps the body's immune system clear the infection
• It is effective against a wide range of bacteria including some that cause community infections

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as the common cold or flu
• Fungal infections
• Infections not caused by bacteria sensitive to azithromycin
• As a general painkiller or fever reducer

How to Use AZISWIFT-250MG TABLET (AZITHROMYCIN 250MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food, but taking it the same way each day helps consistency
• Swallow the tablet with a glass of water
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
• Do not stop early as this can lead to the infection coming back or becoming resistant to treatment

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
• Try to take doses at the same time each day to avoid missing them

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Do not store leftover medicine for future use without consulting a doctor

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics
• Have a history of liver problems caused by macrolide antibiotics

• Have a heart rhythm problem or are taking medicines for heart rhythm

• Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium, which can reduce absorption
• Blood-thinning medicines like warfarin
