This combination medicine is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, usually when diet, exercise, and a single medicine are not enough to control blood sugar.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
- Used along with diet and exercise as advised by your doctor
- Sometimes used alongside other diabetes medicines
HOW IT WORKS
- Empagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess sugar from the body through urine
- Sitagliptin increases hormones that help the pancreas release more insulin after meals and reduces sugar production by the liver
- Together they help lower blood sugar through two different actions
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
- Not a treatment for weight loss, though some weight loss may occur
- Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is required

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Urinary tract infections

- Nausea
- Upper respiratory tract infection symptoms
- Joint pain
- Low blood pressure or dizziness on standing
- Skin rash or itching
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Signs of ketoacidosis such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and unusual tiredness even with normal sugar levels
- Signs of severe urinary or genital infection with fever and pain
- Sudden swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
- Severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to the back (possible pancreatitis)
- Symptoms of low blood sugar like sweating, shakiness, confusion, especially if combined with other diabetes drugs
- Signs of dehydration or kidney problems such as reduced urination

How to Use COSPIAQ S 25/100 Tablets (Empagliflozin 25mg + Sitagliptin 100mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning
- Can be taken with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless instructed
- Drink enough fluids during the day, as this medicine increases urination
- Continue to follow your prescribed diet and exercise plan
- Keep taking it regularly even if you feel well; do not stop without consulting your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
- If you miss doses often, set a reminder or speak to your doctor

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to empagliflozin, sitagliptin, or any ingredient in the tablet
- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have severe kidney disease or are on dialysis
- Have a history of severe allergic reaction to similar diabetes medicines
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have kidney or liver problems
- Have a history of urinary tract or genital infections
- Have low blood pressure or are on diuretics (water pills)
- Have a history of pancreatitis
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
