WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes

HOW IT WORKS

• Empagliflozin helps the kidneys remove excess sugar from the body through urine

• Sudden swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing (allergic reaction)
• Severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to the back (possible pancreatitis)
• Symptoms of low blood sugar like sweating, shakiness, confusion, especially if combined with other diabetes drugs
• Signs of dehydration or kidney problems such as reduced urination

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning

• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless instructed
• Drink enough fluids during the day, as this medicine increases urination

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to empagliflozin, sitagliptin, or any ingredient in the tablet
• Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis

• Have a history of severe allergic reaction to similar diabetes medicines
