Uses and Benefits of DILTIACT GEL (DILTIAZEM HCL 2% W/W)
This medicine is used for the treatment of chronic anal fissures, which are small tears in the lining of the anus causing pain and sometimes bleeding, especially during bowel movements.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Relief of pain associated with chronic anal fissures
- Helping the fissure to heal by relaxing the anal muscle
- Reducing anal sphincter spasm that delays healing
HOW IT WORKS
- Diltiazem relaxes the smooth muscle of the anal sphincter when applied locally
- This reduces pressure in the anal canal, improving blood flow
- Better blood flow helps the fissure heal faster and eases pain
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used for high blood pressure or heart conditions in this topical form
- It is not a treatment for piles (haemorrhoids) or other rectal bleeding disorders
- It is not meant for oral use or use on other parts of the body
- It is not a substitute for surgery in fissures that do not respond to medical treatment

- Fainting or severe dizziness
- Irregular heartbeat or chest pain
- Severe or worsening anal pain or bleeding

How to Use DILTIACT GEL (DILTIAZEM HCL 2% W/W)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Wash and dry the anal area gently before applying
- Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected area as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice a day
- Wash your hands before and after application unless the hands are the site of treatment
- Do not apply more than the prescribed amount or for longer than advised
- Continue using for the full duration recommended by your doctor even if pain improves early
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
- Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed dose
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
- Keep the tube tightly closed after use
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
