Uses and Benefits of GEMER DS 3MG TABLET (Glimepiride 3mg + Metformin 1000mg)
This combination medicine is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially when diet, exercise, and a single medicine are not enough to control blood sugar.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes
- Used along with proper diet and exercise
- Sometimes used together with other diabetes medicines as advised by a doctor
HOW IT WORKS
- Glimepiride stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin
- Metformin decreases sugar production in the liver
- Metformin also improves how the body's cells use insulin, increasing sugar uptake
- Together they help lower blood sugar more effectively than either alone
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis
- Not a treatment for weight loss on its own

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea

- Headache
- Dizziness
- Skin rash
- Weight gain
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) symptoms like sweating, shakiness, hunger
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Severe low blood sugar with confusion, fainting, or seizures
- Signs of lactic acidosis: unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, severe tiredness, stomach pain
- Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
- Severe allergic reaction: swelling of face/lips/tongue, difficulty breathing, severe rash
- Dark urine or pale stools

How to Use GEMER DS 3MG TABLET (Glimepiride 3mg + Metformin 1000mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with or just after a meal to reduce stomach upset and low blood sugar risk
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
- Take it at the same time(s) each day for consistent blood sugar control
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well; diabetes needs ongoing treatment
- Do not stop or change the dose without consulting your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember with food
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
- If you often forget doses, ask your doctor about reminders or dosing schedule changes

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to glimepiride, metformin, or sulfonylurea medicines
- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have severe kidney or liver disease
- Have a severe infection, dehydration, or are about to undergo surgery or an imaging test involving contrast dye

- Have heart, kidney, or liver problems
- Drink alcohol regularly
- Have a history of low blood sugar episodes
- Are elderly or have a poor appetite

- Alcohol, which increases risk of low blood sugar and lactic acidosis
