This medicine is used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Controlling high blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes
- Used when diet, exercise, and a single diabetes medicine are not enough to control sugar levels
- Often prescribed as part of a combination treatment plan
HOW IT WORKS
- Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin
- Sitagliptin helps the body produce more insulin after meals and reduces sugar release from the liver
- Metformin reduces sugar production by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not used for type 1 diabetes
- Not used for diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious emergency condition
- Not a substitute for insulin when insulin is specifically required
- Not used for weight loss or any purpose other than blood sugar control

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Nausea

- Metallic taste in mouth
LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Skin rash
- Mild weight gain
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially if meals are skipped
SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY
- Signs of severe low blood sugar such as excessive sweating, confusion, shakiness, or fainting
- Signs of lactic acidosis such as severe weakness, muscle pain, trouble breathing, unusual tiredness
- Severe stomach pain that may spread to the back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis)
- Yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine (liver problem)
- Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
- Joint pain that is severe and persistent

How to Use GEMER SITA IR 50/500 Tablets (Glimepiride 2mg + Sitagliptin 50mg + Metformin 500mg)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with breakfast or the first main meal
- Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew
- Do not skip meals after taking this medicine, as it can cause low blood sugar
- Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well
- Do not change the dose on your own
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
- If you often forget doses, ask your doctor about setting reminders
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep in the original pack until it is time to take it
- Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to glimepiride, sitagliptin, metformin, or any sulfonylurea drug
- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Have severe kidney or liver disease
- Have a severe infection, injury, or are about to undergo surgery
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless advised by your doctor
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have any history of kidney, liver, heart, or pancreas problems
- Drink alcohol regularly
- Are scheduled for an X-ray or scan involving contrast dye
- Have a history of low blood sugar episodes
- Are elderly or have poor nutrition
