Uses and Benefits of IMNIT 30 TABLET (ISOSORBIDE MONONITRATE 30MG)
Isosorbide Mononitrate is mainly used for the long-term prevention of angina (chest pain) in people with coronary artery disease.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Prevention of angina attacks
- Long-term management of coronary artery disease symptoms
- Reducing frequency of chest pain episodes
HOW IT WORKS
- Relaxes and widens blood vessels (veins more than arteries)
- Reduces the amount of work the heart needs to do
- Improves blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle
- Lowers pressure inside the heart chambers
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- It is not used to treat a sudden angina attack that is already happening (fast-acting nitrates are used for that)
- It is not a painkiller for general body pain
- It does not treat high blood pressure as a primary indication, though it may lower blood pressure as a side effect
- It is not used for heart attack emergencies
This medicine is taken regularly to prevent chest pain from occurring, not to treat pain once it has already started. Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding timing, as taking it correctly helps avoid tolerance (reduced effect over time).
