Uses and Benefits of M-CIN TABLET (MOXIFLOXACIN 400MG)

Moxifloxacin 400mg is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in different parts of the body.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Bacterial infections of the lungs, such as pneumonia and acute bronchitis
• Sinus infections (sinusitis)
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Certain intra-abdominal infections

HOW IT WORKS

• Moxifloxacin blocks enzymes bacteria need to copy their DNA
• This stops bacteria from multiplying and eventually kills them
• It is effective against a broad range of bacteria, including some resistant strains

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Viral infections such as common cold, flu, or most sore throats
• Fungal infections
• As a general painkiller or fever reducer
• Prevention of infection unless specifically advised by a doctor

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Nausea

• Signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of face/lips/throat, severe rash, or difficulty breathing
• Irregular heartbeat, palpitations, or fainting
• Severe diarrhoea, especially with blood or mucus
• Numbness, tingling, or weakness in limbs
• Mood changes, confusion, hallucinations, or seizures
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine

How to Use M-CIN TABLET (MOXIFLOXACIN 400MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
• Can be taken with or without food
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew
• Do not take it with antacids, calcium, iron, or zinc supplements at the same time — leave a gap of a few hours
• Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics
• Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolone use
• Have certain heart rhythm disorders (like prolonged QT interval)
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless specifically advised by your doctor

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have epilepsy or a history of seizures
• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have diabetes
• Have a family history of heart rhythm problems
• Are elderly, as risk of tendon damage may be higher
