Uses and Benefits of MOXICIP 400MG TABLET (MOXIFLOXACIN 400MG)
Moxifloxacin 400mg is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria in different parts of the body.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Bacterial infections of the lungs, such as pneumonia and acute bronchitis
- Sinus infections (sinusitis)
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Certain intra-abdominal infections
HOW IT WORKS
- Moxifloxacin blocks enzymes bacteria need to copy their DNA
- This stops bacteria from multiplying and eventually kills them
- It is effective against a broad range of bacteria, including some resistant strains
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Viral infections such as common cold, flu, or most sore throats
- Fungal infections
- As a general painkiller or fever reducer
- Prevention of infection unless specifically advised by a doctor

- Irregular heartbeat, palpitations, or fainting
- Severe diarrhoea, especially with blood or mucus
- Numbness, tingling, or weakness in limbs
- Mood changes, confusion, hallucinations, or seizures
- Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine

How to Use MOXICIP 400MG TABLET (MOXIFLOXACIN 400MG)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew
- Do not take it with antacids, calcium, iron, or zinc supplements at the same time — leave a gap of a few hours
- Complete the full course even if you feel better before finishing it
- Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Take it as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one
STORAGE
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics
- Have a history of tendon problems linked to fluoroquinolone use
- Have certain heart rhythm disorders (like prolonged QT interval)
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless specifically advised by your doctor
TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
- Have epilepsy or a history of seizures
- Have kidney or liver disease
- Have diabetes
- Have a family history of heart rhythm problems
- Are elderly, as risk of tendon damage may be higher
- Are taking any other medications, including supplements
MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT
- Antacids, calcium, iron, or zinc supplements (reduce absorption)
- Other medicines that affect heart rhythm
- Blood thinners like warfarin
- Corticosteroids (increase risk of tendon injury)
- Medicines for diabetes
