Uses and Benefits of MACTOR EZ TABLET (ATORVASTATIN 10MG + EZETIMIBE 10MG)

This combination medicine is mainly used to treat high cholesterol and related lipid disorders that increase the risk of heart disease.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Lowering high LDL (bad) cholesterol and total cholesterol
• Managing mixed cholesterol disorders along with diet control
• Reducing risk of heart attack and stroke in people with high cholesterol
• Supporting treatment in people with existing heart disease or diabetes with high cholesterol

HOW IT WORKS

• Atorvastatin blocks an enzyme in the liver that makes cholesterol, lowering LDL cholesterol
• Ezetimibe blocks absorption of cholesterol from food in the intestine
• Together they lower cholesterol more effectively than either medicine alone

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It is not a painkiller or treatment for sudden chest pain
• It does not treat infections
• It is not a substitute for diet, exercise, or other heart medicines prescribed for you
• It should not be used for weight loss

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Headache
• Muscle aches or joint pain
• Diarrhoea or stomach upset

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Gas or bloating
• Sleep disturbances
• Skin rash or itching
• Mild rise in liver enzymes on blood tests

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, especially with fever or dark urine
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, severe stomach pain, or persistent vomiting (signs of liver problems)
• Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face, lips, throat, or difficulty breathing
• Signs of pancreas inflammation such as severe abdominal pain radiating to the back

How to Use MACTOR EZ TABLET (ATORVASTATIN 10MG + EZETIMIBE 10MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily in the evening
• Can be taken with or without food, but be consistent
• Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless advised
• Avoid grapefruit juice as it may increase side effects
• Continue taking it regularly even if you feel well, as cholesterol control needs continuous treatment
• Do not stop suddenly without consulting your doctor

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take double dose to make up for a missed one
• Try to take your dose at the same time each day to avoid missing it

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct sunlight
• Keep in original packaging until use
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have active liver disease
• Are allergic to atorvastatin, ezetimibe, or any ingredient in the tablet
• Are taking certain medicines that strongly interact with statins, without doctor approval

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU
