Uses and Benefits of OMEZ INSTA SACHET (OMEPRAZOLE 20MG)

Omeprazole 20mg is mainly used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Acid reflux (GERD) and heartburn
• Stomach ulcers and duodenal ulcers
• Prevention of ulcers caused by long-term use of pain-relief medicines (NSAIDs)
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (a rare condition with excess acid production)
• As part of combination treatment to eliminate H. pylori infection along with antibiotics

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks the acid-producing pumps in the stomach lining
• Reduces the total amount of acid released into the stomach
• Helps relieve symptoms and allows ulcers or damaged tissue to heal

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not a painkiller and does not treat pain directly
• Not meant for immediate relief of sudden severe stomach pain without medical evaluation
• Not used for infections unless combined specifically with antibiotics for H. pylori
• Not a substitute for lifestyle changes like avoiding spicy food, alcohol, or smoking if advised by your doctor

• Severe or watery diarrhoea that does not stop
• Signs of low magnesium such as muscle spasms, irregular heartbeat, or seizures
• Yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine (signs of liver problems)
• Severe skin reactions such as blistering, peeling, or swelling of face and throat
• Signs of a severe allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing

How to Use OMEZ INSTA SACHET (OMEPRAZOLE 20MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor
• Usually taken once a day, preferably in the morning before food
• Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush unless your doctor says it is safe to do so
• Try to take it at the same time every day for best effect
• Continue for as long as your doctor has advised, even if you feel better, unless told to stop

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep in a dry place, away from moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to omeprazole or other similar acid-reducing medicines
• Are taking certain HIV medicines like atazanavir or nelfinavir without medical advice

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have liver disease
• Have osteoporosis or a history of bone fractures
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have low magnesium levels or are on long-term treatment
• Are due for an endoscopy, as it may need to be stopped temporarily before the test

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Blood thinners such as warfarin or clopidogrel
• Certain HIV medicines
• Methotrexate
• Digoxin
• Diazepam and certain other medicines processed by the liver
