Uses and Benefits of PEREPSY 4MG TABLET (PERAMPANEL 4MG)

Perampanel 4mg is used for the treatment of epilepsy in adults and children above a certain age, as decided by the treating doctor.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Treating partial-onset seizures, with or without secondary generalisation
• Treating primary generalised tonic-clonic seizures
• Used as add-on therapy along with other anti-epileptic medicines in many cases

HOW IT WORKS

• It blocks certain receptors (AMPA glutamate receptors) in the brain
• This reduces the excessive electrical activity in brain cells that causes seizures
• Regular use helps lower the frequency of seizure episodes

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for treating anxiety, depression, or other mood disorders
• Not a painkiller and not used for headaches or migraine
• Not used to stop a seizure that is already happening (not for emergency use)

• Severe mood or behaviour changes noticed by family

How to Use PEREPSY 4MG TABLET (PERAMPANEL 4MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily at bedtime
• Swallow the tablet with water; it can be taken with or without food
• Do not chew or crush unless your doctor tells you to
• Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own
• Do not stop suddenly, as this may worsen seizures; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually if needed
• Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine as it can increase drowsiness

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember on the same day
• If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual
• Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one
• If you miss doses often, inform your doctor

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Alcohol
