Uses and Benefits of SOFRAMYCIN Powder (CLOTRIMAZOLE (1% W/W))

Clotrimazole 1% w/w is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and certain mucous membranes.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Ringworm infections (tinea) of the body, groin, and feet
• Fungal skin infections causing itching, redness, and scaling
• Vaginal yeast infections (candidiasis) when used as a vaginal preparation
• Fungal infections of skin folds

HOW IT WORKS

• Clotrimazole damages the outer membrane of fungal cells
• This stops the fungus from growing and multiplying
• Over time, the infection clears as fungal cells die off

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• It does not treat bacterial skin infections
• It does not treat viral infections such as cold sores or warts
• It is not effective against internal or systemic fungal infections
• It should not be used in the eyes

Always use it for the full duration advised, even if symptoms improve early, to prevent the infection from coming back.

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Mild burning or stinging at the site of application
• Redness or itching of the skin
• Slight peeling or dryness of the treated area

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Skin irritation that worsens with continued use
• Mild swelling of the applied area
• Rash spreading beyond the treated area

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Severe itching, redness, or blistering suggesting an allergic reaction
• Swelling of the face, lips, or throat
• Difficulty breathing
• Severe pain or ulceration at the application site

How to Use SOFRAMYCIN Powder (CLOTRIMAZOLE (1% W/W))

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Use only on the skin or area advised by your doctor
• Clean and dry the affected area before applying
• Apply a thin layer and gently rub it in, usually as advised by the doctor
• Wash your hands after application unless the hands are being treated
• Do not cover the area tightly unless advised
• Continue using for the full course even if symptoms improve

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Apply as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one
• Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight
• Keep the container tightly closed
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

• Have broken or infected skin with open wounds
• Are using it on a child, especially on the face

• Other topical steroid or antibiotic creams used on the same skin area
• Other antifungal products applied at the same time
• Always inform your doctor about all creams, ointments, or medicines you are using
