Uses and Benefits of VELTAM 0.2MG TABLET (TAMSULOSIN 0.2 MG)

Tamsulosin 0.2 mg is mainly prescribed for men with an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia) who have difficulty passing urine.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Difficulty starting urination
• Weak or interrupted urine flow
• Frequent urination, especially at night
• Feeling of incomplete bladder emptying due to enlarged prostate
• Sometimes used to help pass kidney stones by relaxing the ureter

HOW IT WORKS

• Blocks alpha-1 receptors in the prostate and bladder neck muscles
• Relaxes these muscles, reducing resistance to urine flow
• Improves urine stream and reduces urinary symptoms

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Does not shrink the prostate size, only relieves symptoms
• Not used to treat prostate cancer
• Not a treatment for urinary tract infections
• Not meant for use in women or children
• Not a cure for BPH, only symptom relief

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Dizziness
• Headache
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Weakness or tiredness
• Abnormal ejaculation (reduced semen volume)

LESS COMMON SIDE EFFECTS

• Low blood pressure on standing up (postural hypotension)
• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Blurred vision
• Palpitations

SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS — STOP AND SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY

• Fainting or severe dizziness
• Allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, swelling of face or throat
• Painful or prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism)
• Severe skin reactions with blistering or peeling
• Difficulty breathing

How to Use VELTAM 0.2MG TABLET (TAMSULOSIN 0.2 MG)

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once daily
• Take after the same meal every day, at about the same time
• Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush it
• Do not stop taking it suddenly without consulting your doctor, even if symptoms improve
• Continue for as long as your doctor recommends, even if you feel better

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Skip the missed dose and take the next one at the usual time
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one
• If you miss several doses, consult your doctor before restarting

STORAGE

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use
• Keep out of reach of children and pets
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to tamsulosin or any other ingredient in the capsule
• Have a history of severe low blood pressure on standing
• Are a woman or child (not approved for these groups)
• Have severe liver disease

TELL YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE STARTING IF YOU

• Have low blood pressure or take medicines for blood pressure
• Are scheduled for cataract or eye surgery (can cause intraoperative floppy iris syndrome)
• Have kidney or liver problems
• Have a history of fainting spells
• Are taking other medicines for prostate symptoms or erectile dysfunction

MEDICINES THAT CAN INTERACT

• Other alpha-blockers (risk of excess blood pressure drop)
• Medicines for erectile dysfunction such as sildenafil
• Strong antifungal or antibiotic medicines like ketoconazole, erythromycin
• Blood pressure–lowering medicines
• Warfarin or other blood thinners (use with caution)
