Uses and Benefits of VERTIMIR TABLET (CINNARIZINE 20MG+DOMPERIDONE 15MG)

This medicine is mainly used to treat vertigo and the nausea or vomiting that often comes along with it.

WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR

• Vertigo (spinning or dizzy sensation)
• Nausea and vomiting linked with vertigo
• Motion sickness related dizziness
• Balance disorders due to inner ear problems

HOW IT WORKS

• Cinnarizine reduces the sensitivity of the inner ear balance system and improves blood flow, easing dizziness
• Domperidone blocks signals in the brain that trigger nausea and vomiting
• Together they control both the dizziness and the associated stomach upset

WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR

• Not used for routine morning sickness in pregnancy
• Not a treatment for migraine headache itself, only associated nausea if advised by a doctor
• Not used for general stomach infections or food poisoning
• Not a painkiller and does not treat ear infections directly

HOW TO TAKE IT

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually with water
• Can be taken with or after food to reduce stomach upset
• Do not increase the dose or take it for longer than advised
• Swallow tablets whole; do not crush unless your doctor says so

IF YOU MISS A DOSE

• Take it as soon as you remember
• If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one
• Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one

• Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack
• Keep in the original packaging until ready to use

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU

• Are allergic to cinnarizine, domperidone or any ingredient in this medicine
• Have a known heart rhythm problem
• Have a tumour of the pituitary gland (prolactinoma)
• Have moderate to severe liver disease

• Have any heart condition
• Have kidney or liver disease
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Are elderly, as side effects may be more noticeable
• Have Parkinson's disease or other movement disorders

• Other medicines that affect heart rhythm
• Antifungal or antibiotic medicines like ketoconazole, erythromycin
• Medicines for Parkinson's disease
• Other sedatives or drugs causing drowsiness
• Alcohol, which can increase drowsiness
