This composition is mainly used to treat and prevent minor bacterial infections of the skin, including cuts, wounds, minor burns, and abrasions.
WHAT THIS MEDICINE IS USED FOR
- Prevention of infection in minor cuts, scrapes and burns
- Treatment of superficial skin infections caused by bacteria
- Use after minor skin surgery, as advised by the doctor
- Sometimes used for infected eczema or dermatitis patches
HOW IT WORKS
- Bacitracin stops bacteria from building their protective cell wall
- Neomycin blocks bacteria from making proteins they need to survive
- Polymyxin B damages the outer membrane of certain bacteria, killing them
- Together, the three antibiotics cover a broad range of skin bacteria
WHAT IT IS NOT USED FOR
- Not for deep wounds, animal or human bites, or serious burns
- Not effective against viral infections like cold sores or fungal infections like ringworm
- Not meant for internal use or for eye infections unless a specific eye formulation is prescribed
- Not a substitute for stitches or proper wound care in serious injuries

COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
- Mild itching or burning at the site of application

How to Use NEOSPORIN POWDER (Bacitracin (400IU) + Neomycin (3400IU) + Polymyxin)
HOW TO TAKE IT
- Wash your hands before and after applying
- Clean the affected area gently and pat dry
- Apply a thin layer of the ointment/cream to the affected skin as directed by your doctor
- Do not use more than the prescribed amount or apply on large areas of broken skin
- Cover with a clean bandage only if your doctor advises
- Do not use for longer than the duration prescribed by your doctor
IF YOU MISS A DOSE
- Apply as soon as you remember
- If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one and continue as scheduled
- Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose

- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture
- Keep the cap tightly closed after use
- Keep out of reach of children

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU
- Are allergic to bacitracin, neomycin, polymyxin B, or similar antibiotics

- Have deep puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns, unless advised by a doctor

- Have kidney disease
- Have hearing problems or are on other medicines that affect hearing
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Need to use it on large areas of broken or raw skin
- Are using it on infants or young children

- Other topical antibiotics used at the same time on the same area
- Oral or injectable aminoglycoside antibiotics, if used together with extensive skin application
- Diuretics, if used along with extensive skin application, due to added risk to kidneys and hearing
